Above you will find the monstrosity we birthed in devised rehearsal today: a human body made up of other human bodies. I provided the arms, Randy Woolley the legs, Nicholas Hernandez the torso, and Joel Ison the eyebrows. It developed into a fascinating little piece that had us all coming into this formation while another group went into theirs, and yet another group performed an aurally thrilling spectacular; it was, to one degree or another, a hot mess, but in devised: that’s never a problem. In fact, there were some moments of true beauty I think we all hope to see again later on down the road. Thanks, of course, to our director, Elizabeth Parks, and the visiting experts from Blessed Unrest, Jessica Burr and Matt Opatrny.
